Default impreza turbo 2000 problem, need help!

hi guys, ive got abit of a problem, i plug my impreza uk 2000 into dianogstics yest and it came up with lambda sensor and knock sensor, my car is not boosting very well (holds back now and again and not much torque under load) and makes like a ticking noise that goes threw the exhaust on idle and boost (sounds like air escaping) and also back fires after boost now and again but idles just under 1 with no irretic idleing, ive tried a ecu reset with no joy to running any better and am now in process of ordering lambda, do you think i have more then sensor problems? or can lambda and knock sensors cause it to run this poor? please help as iam getting a little worried about pound signs lol.

ive now fitted a new lambda sensor and its boosting and running better with now a reading of 0.04 on a vault meter when put on lambda compared to 0.01- 0.02 before, i still have some ticking down exhaust but is minimal now and still have back fire after boosting, could this be a air leak? what should the vault meter read when put on lambda? any ideas to slight ticking or backfire would be helpfull cheers guys.

u really need a scope to test the lambda sensor as it switches quicker than a usual volt meter can read so instead of getting a fluctuation betwween .1 and .9v u r just getting an average. with the ticking noise i have had this noise since i fitted a full decat n also have no idea what it is lol. hope this helps

thanks for help guys, alot of people ask has it got decat, mine has turbo back exhaust (no cat )and k&n panel filter, the ticking noise makes it sound ruff and is getting on me nerves, it can mostly be heard in built up areas.
