Heat it up, use a deep socket and a power bar.

What socket are you using to undo it? I've undone them before with one of these and a breaker bar on it, no issues. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DRAPER-55540-L...item4839fc7d93

take car out get some heat in it and use the ring side of a 22mm spanner as fits over the plug to the sensor, the above sockets in the link tend to twist and round the sensor off.

22mm ring spanner with a tube over it if needed

I wouldent use a breaker bar on it tbh as you can get carried away then .. snap. Forget heat as without a proper oxy torch you'l never get it glowing red hot to break the seal of rust. When its cold, soak it in wd40 and let it do its thing then a big ratchet (long 1/2) crack it off. If it still wont budge then take it to a garage that has oxy and get them to do it.

cheers for the comments guys pritty much tried all the above apart from the stilsons could'nt get at it with em lol. I got one of the draper oxygen sensor sockets and as above it just slips and tried the 22mm ring spanner was hard to get at so heated it up (blow torch) and bent it managed to get a good grip with it but just would not budge. Soaked it in wd40 aswel after the first time i spat my dummy out threw the spanner across the garage and went for a brew lol

I used a 22mm ring spanner, and gently tapped it with a rubber mallet. Wouldn't do this unless you are replacing the sensor (I was) and the shock can sometimes be enough to break the rust. Use copper grease when you put it back together

It is probably the original sensor, mine was only replaced this Easter after it started to throw the odd fault code.

Take the DP off and do it makes it alot easyer. But saying that, dp - turbo bolts will just be as bad, i had to put up a fight with them, rusty bolts you need the nack with them or you just get no where.

Think you are thinking of the wrong sensor shaunyboyuk, the sensor in the dp is the egt and the sensor in the exhaust manifold behind the drivers side wheel arch is the front oxgen sensor. But got a mobile mechanic coming on thursday to get the t******g thing out but similar to what you said he thinks he might have to take off the manifold if it is truely ceased in

Yes, the manifold may have to come off, wasn't too bad a job to do. You may as well get a ported one and do a swap while it's off

I swapped mine over last night, had to remove the IC (and left hand bracket) and the turbo heat shield but not the downpipe... Got one of these on the sensor and it came out no fuss. Took about an hour taking my time. I'm lazy and would rather work in a clear environment where my skins stays on my knuckles, so I'm sure that it could be done quicker...

Contact harvey with your engine spec - he'll sell you the most appropriate one so as to optimise spool (wrapped if you want, too...)

Yesterday went better, manifold, uppipe and down pipe fitted, new front O2 sensor and a replcement rear O2 sensor. Had a 250 mile trip back home and the car was awsome no engine lights, no hesitation and no misfires and sounds mint with the full de-cat, nice loud burble on full beans that was a little addictive lol..

big thanks to scoobytekniks for finally getting my pride and joy squared away well recommended...
