Default Is my fuel pump on its last legs?

Does this sound like my fuel pump is on its last legs or something else. Its a Walbro which is about 2 years old.

Just started doing it today and is a buzzing noise, I recorded it with my mobi

http://www.mykp.co.uk/fuel-pump/fuel-pump.htm

Click on the link theres a video on this page with the noise. Therses a noise with the engine running and another on prime before start.

cheers

I have no idea if your fuel pump is about to die...but... I have just swapped out my forester sti pump for a walboro. So if you would like to pay postage you can have my old STI pump for free, it has done around 25K miles and looks fine.

Cheers for the offer Al, but I need a Walbro myself, as I need something with a higher flow rate. The one thats in at the moment is a Walbro.

well it is 180 liters flow versus the walboro's 255, but it handles 300bhp absolutely no problem (I have an aftermarket wideband sensor installed so I know it does not run lean). Also, it looks better made with no plastic bits on the body just cast metal. If you are running < 300bhp ~ 240whp then I would go with the STI.

Check out the group buy section. I got a Walbro hi-flow from there, it is longer than the Walbro 255 so need the fuel feed pipe cutting and I ended up cutting the filter connection pipe as well as it would not sit properly in the tank but once cut accordingly no problem. If memory serves me right I had the hex on the filter pipe inside the pump holder. You also need a tywrap to hold the pump in place.

the rig, its just started, dont think its been this noisy before, otherwise i'd have noticed before.

Fleetwood, not sure if the STI fits, but having had a conversation with the mechanic who looks after my car he's of the opinion the fuel pump is on its last legs. Also I want something which I know can fuel the car as i'm knocking on 300bhp-ish and as mine is a 97 auto which cant be remapped I am really weary about underfuelling.

Car goes in on Tuesday for a new walbro and fitting.

Thanks for the offer though

Take it out, connect 12v (or 9v with a smoke alarm stylee battery) to it, ensure no sparks otherwise you'll have insta-tan, see if it makes noise?
