Default tdo6 turbo

hi ive just checked my turbo and found out that i have a tdo6 turbo when i thought i had a tdo5 can you tell me if this is a good turbo to have and why the last owner would have put this on it?my cars a 94wrx import with a fmic walbro pump full decat and up pipe and a k@n induction kit and the injectors are yello and it has a hks bov its runnig 285bhp @14.psi at the mo any help would be great.thanks

also it has a prova ecu.lol.thats about it.thanks

From time to time I make TD05-06 20Gs. Usually when the conversion kits become available. These are good turbos and one recently did 430 bhp with more to come.
A straight TD06 turbo is a lardy lump and probably a disaste on a 2 litre. Might work on a 2.5 or bigger.

yeah my car does feel laggy it dosnt start to boost properly until 4000 revs then it pulls really well once it does start,so is it best to swap down to a td05??thanks

You are too far away to reasonably expect to be able to look at your car in the flesh so why not send me your full spec and I will look at it and try to make constructive suggestions but a TD06 is certainly not a good choice for a 2 litre WRX.

thanks for the reply my cars spec is its a 94wrx import with a fmic,walbro fuel pump,full decat exhaust its a blitz nur spec r and the up pipe is decat and has a k@n induction kit,and the injectors are yellow,it has a hks bov and the td06 turbo and its got a prova ecu this is the total spec that i know ov,thanks ian

Without knowing more about your headers and uppipe I can't comment further but there may be improvements in that area to get your 06 turbo working earlier
