Hi, I am having long term issues trying to fix the 2 following error codes;

24 Idle air control valve

33 Vehicle speed sensor

This is on my 95 555 ra, The idle control valve has been replaced and set but still same codes come on again after resetting the ECU.

I have checked the MAF also and its spotless !

Any help would be much appreciated so I can enjoy driving my great little car

 

Welcome. If you've replaced the ISCV and still get error 24, the next likely suspect is a short or open circuit in the wiring loom between the valve and the ECU.

Re. the error 33, is your speedometer working correctly? If it is, and if it reads sensibly, then again likely cause is an electrical issue between the sensor head and the ECU.

If your speedo doesn't work, then likely cause is the sensor head itself.

hi im getting error 24 as well and my spedo dont work has urs lost all power???????? altho im not gettin fault code 4 the speedo

 

You will get error 24 if the idle cannot be controlled properly.

Reset the ecu, then without running the car, do a solenoid sweep and code check. If you don't get a code 24 then you should probably look at the tps as it can be that the TPS or idle valve tells the ECU that the throttle is closed and to go into idle mode. If the idle is made artificially high (air leak for instance) and the target idle can't be achieved, or if you lug along in traffic at 500rpm and make the idle too low, you can trigger a code 24.

Check your TPS voltage and the idle switch (in the tps).

The speed sensor may just be a broken speedo, if the needle still works then the clock unit is likely faulty and not sending the correct info to the ECU. If the speedo is not working it will eventually create a 4000rpm rev limit.

 

how do i do solanoid sweep? this may sound stupid i know. cheers

 

When you do the check for error codes, you can also connect the green connectors which makes the car fire off all the solenoids and relays to make sure (as best it can) that everything is working. You can reset and check for CEL codes with just the black connectors.
