As above remove the boot carpet, in the back right hand corner you will see a hatch with 4 screws, remove this to expose the tank hatch. This is held with 8mm bolts remove these to expose the pump. It’s also worth removing the back seat for extra room, although it can be done in suite

Think I read somewhere about "depressurising" the fuel system i.e. remove pump fuse and turn motor over, someone may have more detailed info.

In addition, if your car has a swirl pot, it, by definition, will be heavily modified, and has a significantly modified fuel system, possibly with separate lift and supply pumps. As such, you should work out exactly what's going on here, and what it is you have, before you start trying to replace the pump(s).
Sounds highly likely that someone's been b*llsh*tting you about the swirl pot, and that the reason you can't see it is that it isn't there, but you should find out for certain before moving forward.
but have just seen this...any ideas what it is? is it standard?
