Bent Jack Point
Unfortunately when fitting my new exhaust the hydrolic jack bent my jack point pretty bad, the photographs don't really show the extent of the damage.
The side skirts when back on should cover it but other than leaving it, what are my options?
Thanks

My friend did it, it was a straight up accident though, i watched it happen. Put the hydro jack on the point, raised it and it caved!
What are seals? The whole bottom bit?
Thanks

is it the pinch weld thats bent? Mine had all four damaged and one split, but had them knocked back into shape and strengthend then sealed and painted and you cant tell now, avoid using jacks on that point, unless its the standard issue scissor jack or your using proper ramps with 4 arms in a garage.

Would a 4 point garage ramp still not bend them? Surely if a hydro jack did this then a 4 point garage ramp would too?
Thanks

Yep a 4 point jack will do the same, if not worse... as they are just round pads with a rubber bit... all 4 of mine look like that atm as the car is always up and down being a track car... nothing much im gonna do about it, probably better flat for the jack then it is with the notch (only good if your going to be using the standard jack)

That bent because its not really the proper a jacking point for a trolley jack; The correct place to jack up the rear of a Impreza is the rear diff (read the instruction manual). The front of the car is jacked up using the flat area of the front subframe just behind the sump (tricky if the car is lowered or has a splitter ).
The sill is for the emergency jack (which has a slot in it to stop it bending the seam of the sill), or when using a two post lift or jacking beam with cushioned pads - these don't damage the sills as the weight is spread out across all four support points and the car is raised evenly.
Axle stands "can" also be used there if it has the appropriate sill adapter (a standard V-groove stand will just dig in and damage the none-strengthened areas). And use axle stands in pairs (i.e support the rear of the car, or the front or both, not just one corner)
Fixing is pretty straight forward; Bend the folded bit back with some mole grips, then support the one side of the seam with some wood and hammer the other side to straighten it out, then apply fresh underseal and plenty of waxoyl to stop prevent it rusting. However once its been bent it will be prone to bending again as the metal will have been weakened.

i have the same issue on one of my rear points, its not just a matter of straigtening the lip`d edge, the actual sill has bent, you can see it in the pic of the O/P car, mine is a tad worse, even with the lip`d part straigtened, the sill is bent like a banana, the further back you go,the worse it looks
If i could get the car high enough, i would use a slide hammer to pull it back into shape, thats my next mission when im bored
