hi i had my decat up pipe fitted yesterday, driving it around and when you floor it and the turbo is under load there is a tapping noise which sounds like your putting a stick in a wheel or something dont really no how to describe it but its tinny rattle when turbo in could anyone help me with this please as its worrying me thanks !!!!!

Not sure from the info supplied,but it could be the boost solenoid knocking?

could be the turbo heatshield,if it was removed,possible broken bolts.no names but guys i got 2 do my exhaust left the shield hangin on with 1 feken bolt,just an idea 2 check.

does it happen up to around 0.5bar boost then disappear ?

Up-pipe gasket leak. Were new gaskets used? flange faces not flat....
Take it back to the fitters and show them.

sorry to bump thread but what is the best type of gasket to use. ive seen few different types an i have same problem. fited new headers an uppipe with new gaskets an sounds like same thing an mine does it until after 0.5 bar id say. like when coming on boost

for all gaskets main dealer is best place as theres have a squash type ring in the middle.

sure its not the wastegate opening and closing on lower boost your hearing

no i dont think it is. it seems all tight an strong. might be just me. if it was the wastegate doing that. what can cure it. its a vf23 turbo

it sounds more like a gasket leaking to be honest, i used new gaskets though, but could be the heat shield as it was removed but the decat up pipe i fitted didnt have a bracket for 2 of the bolts on the shield so im lost really lol. would it be safe to remove heat shield or not ? gonna hav a look tommoro hopefully find it coz wen i boot it, it sounds like my first fiesta 1.3 rattle box lol.
