Default ECU/Fuel Pump Issue

Hey guys/girls,

Has anyone ever experienced ECU problems where the fuel pump stops working??
Either by means of a fuel cut-off switch incase of an accident, or by a faulty micro in the ECU??

I have a fuel pump issue and am just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like the above.

Cheers

I've checked the main fuse box under the bonnet...nothing blown in there.

Used a DVM to buzz the wires under the rear seats and I get 12V on one of them when I turn the ignition key...the 12V disappears after a second or 2 though...does that sound right?!

Yes that sounds right.

There is another fuse in the interior fusebox that could be it - check those out.

I feel for you mate. I have exactly the same problem in my my99. I also have voltage at the fuel pump for around 3 secs. But fuel pump not priming. I'll watch your thread with interest.

If the fuel pump isn't priming but you are still getting voltage there then it's fair to assume the pump may be buggered. Equally if you have an immobiliser issue the pump may not prime.

Remove the pump, easy to do, chuck 12v on it and see if it runs. If it does and you're still having probs then it's fair to say there could be an immobiliser issue.

And that would be my first port of call but if the fuse is OK then pump removal would be next as it's far easier and quicker to pop it out and run 12v to it than messing about checking voltages, looking for broken wires, or wondering if the immobiliser is playing up. At least that way you can either rule the pump out or identify it as the culprit quickly.

I'm gonna be trying all these things at the weekend.
I hope to god it's a fuse and not the pump or the immobiliser.
Has anyone heard of Clifford immobilisers playing up??

Just wanna say a big THANK-YOU for all your help and guidance guys...it's much appreciated.
