Default advise please, **UPDATE**

Evening guys, my mate has a uk 2000 saloon, Running 350 with mods, td05 18g, avc-r, front mount not sure of ecu or map, or internal work,

he has had the car some 6 weeks and all was well running sweet as a nut, boosting like a trooper, anyway the other day it hit what i can only descibe as a fuel cut, and since then the damn thing is overboosting like hell, he asked another frind to have a look and the avc-r was all over the place so i set it to a very simple setting of 0.8bar 65% duty, learn gear off, feedback off and the start duty for each gear on 3% across the board, and wham overboost again, so i turned it off, and it's still overboosting and hitting the fuel cut, i have had a look for a pipe off but can't seem to find 1, drving off boost it's fine but as soon as boost comes on it's fast and sharp and then fuel cut, please help as it's doing our heads in

Mark

Does sound like a vac hose to/from the AVC-R, BCS, MAP sensor or W/G is off or split.

Maybe a sudden failure to the MAP sensor?

Make sure he drives at >= 0bar/psi until it's sorted...

Sounds like there's no pressure getting to the actuator.

First diagnostic test is probably to run fresh vac pipe direct from compressor bleed output to the actuator and see if you get 0.5-0.7 bar consistent boost.

If you do, work backwards from there.

What model year is the car and what boost control solenoid is being used?

i will have a good look at the hoses, he has no boost gauge in the car though as was usin the avc-r,

i know what the map is but what is BCS and where can it be found,

it is a version 2 turbo 2000,

it is using the 3 port apexi solenoid

the way i saw it plumed in was pipe from compressor to the apexi solenoid then to the wastegate he is not a messer so would not have tried to mess with any pipework

Mark

is the bcs a boost control solenoid? if so it is not being used

The BCS would be the Apexi 3-port solenoid you're talking about, so no worries (BCS = boost control solenoid)

Hey Joz,

Surely you meant <= (LESS THAN or equal to) 0 bar/psi not greater than or equal to (>=)?

There's no such thing as a "version 2 Turbo 2000", so what is it? Model year will do nicely.

it is using the 3 port apexi solenoid

is the bcs a boost control solenoid? if so it is not being used

HI PEOPLE,

ok have run a pipe to the actuater from the output

took if for a zip and runs ace boosts well long drive in third slowly acclearating then flat out it boosts to 1.25bar according to the avc-r display, is this too much i would of thought as splitpin said it would of hit 0.5-0.7bar,

it hit either a fuel cut or the acuator opened, i did try to move it before we went out and it would not budge, could it be seized closed?

thanks for any help mark

could be a few things mark..
but as you say your gettting more boost even on standard actuator pressure then maybe the actuator control arm/wastgate is sticking????

some are adjustable dep on turbo but it prob just need a clean/freeing
problem could also be inside exhuast housing thou on the penny valve its self (that is if this is the cause)
also dont rule out the acuator controlling the arm being at fault
i would remove top heat sheild (if still fitted) and lube the pivit and gently open/close the wastgate first if no good then try swaping the acuator from a same spec turbo

Indeed - that's where inattentive typing gets you.
