air con removal !! Why ?
Hi, just wondered what the advantage of removing the aircon from scoobys was, Seen a few advertised with air con removed and mine has had it removed also, is it just down to fuel consumption or is there other reasons too

And you'll save more weight when you sweat buckets in the summer greenhouse LOL. Have had 4 Scoobs. The one without air con survived the newage car, but only cos the newage was too lardy to work up a sweat.
Don't believe you notice the difference in performance, only the difference in resalel value IMHO

0.5% of the weight of the car is saved by removing the pump alone.
I doubt anyone could feel the difference, but it does sap a couple of bhp when running, so if you are desperate it might help....
My seats weight 20+kg each, surely more to be save there ?
dunx

Cosmetic/packaging reasons, and also useful if reversing the intake manifold as you have to put the alternator where the aircon pump is - so for full track cars it makes sense.
Re weight - I worked out the power to weight ratio on my car with it (348bhp/tonne) and without (353bhp/tonne)- I just wouldn't notice the difference and I'd get too hot without it.
