Also, it has an atmospheric diverter valve (Forge i think), is this safe for the ECU or should i be putting a recirc on?

I would replace the Forge with the oem dumpvalve.

Check for accident damage, poor paint repairs & general bodywork condition.

Hello, the struts on that year are prone to knocking, have a good listen when going over bumps on test drive, should have a blue y piece with prodrive written on under the bonnet at the rear of the engine bay, and a certificate from when fitted along with the prodrive exhaust of course :-)

Regards
Neil

Things to look out for so you can bargain are knocking rear shocks they all do it and is just annoying at times. Check for 5th and 6th notchy gears could be syncros which can cost a few quid and lastly the clutch depending o the mileage. Had mine for a year now after having a classic and really happy with it.

So far no too many things to be wary about then, should be a solid car if all is well.

The blue y-piece is on the wrx ppp, not the STi. Easiest things to identify the PPP is back box and sports cat. Contact Subaru with the VIN, they will confirm whether or not it has PPP.

Rear shocks is main issue with these.

Guy says he has the cert, looks like a Prodrive exhaust from the pics i have, wouldnt know what the visual difference between CAT's is, (Prodrive smaller?) Will try and get the VIN off the guy, if not i'll see if Subaru can identify via reg number. Rear shocks have been replaced recently.

If the guy has the ppp certificate to prove the car has ppp then just check the details on it relate to that car and it should be ok, the most important thing is a full service history and get a HPI check done, and you should be safe.

You can always ring prodrive they will confirm wether it has PPP or not.

JDM cars are specced differently to uk models, a lot more equipment. Not sure about the insurance. A plan or Keith Michaels are your best bet for a quote.

No jdm cars have a better spec than the uk models and insurance is not a problem, my spec c is a jdm import and insurance was no problem, im with Gary at Keith Michaels plc he's the man to talk to when it comes to scooby insurance.

Go JDM!!!! There is not much difference in insurance, to tell the truth twice was i quoted lower with a JDM than a UK-both 2003.

I settled for a 2005 UK when i was searching for a 2003 JDM, there were none around at the time. Super happy with mine but i really should have held off. Twin scroll is the was forward.

GO JDM!!!
