You will also lose most of the contents of the mains and galleries so will need to re-prime the system (remove crank sensor etc) afterward. Although has already been said, the obvious time, if you're going to do this, would be when you're doing a full oil change.

Why use a sandwich plate for that? The best way forward is via the no. 3 oil gallery plug and the regular pressure takeoff on the top of the engine. Far better in both KISS and cable routing terms.

It depends on what gauges he has and he is wanting to fit two sensors, I know the prosport Pressure sender is huge and the best (maybe only) place to have it is in a sandwhich plate.

I wouldn't recommend fitting the temp sender in the sandwhich plate, defo use the no. 3 gallery plug for the temp, I have mine in the sandwhich plate on my bug and it is Toffee, when you get up to speed it gives a kinda falls reading (lower than it should be) I suspect it's due to the large amount of air running over it, so I have another temp sensors and will re-route cables!

Put oil temp sensor at no. 3 gallery plug and pressure sensor where the current sensor is.
No need to take a filter off or for a sandwich plate.
