CEL Error Code 53 - Anti-Quick Operation Mode??
Does anyone know what this error code actually mean? I've just put the engine back in my MY97 UK Turbo and it ran fine the first couple of times I tried, now it wont start -
You turn the ignition on and the CEL is flashing steadily on and off. I put the car into diagnostic mode and this is the error the CEL is giving - 53 - which is either the Antenna (which I assume is the ariel and prob not the cause of the issue) or something called "Anti-Quick Operation Mode" - I can't find anything on the net or here about it
Can anyone shed any light on it??
Cheers

hi bud where are you getting your code list from although i have an my96 my list says that error code 53 is fuel pump or circuit, check there is power getting to the pump although you may hear the relay click and prime the plug underneath the back seat can become loose, so whip the cover off the pump houseing in the boot and check the plug there to see if your getting power,

reading the above post i'm thinking the car might have a factory fitted immoboliser as there are more than 1 thing listed there that point to it,

As above, error 53 covers a variety of different faults pertaining to the onboard immobiliser. You need a Select Monitor to see which of the specific errors it is identifying although at least you know where to look.
Have you disconnected either the ECU or the immobiliser module while doing what you've been doing?

It turned out that it does indeed have an immobiliser - I was using a newly cut key, which obviously didn't have the required code/chip
All up and working now
Thanks guys!
