Default 2.5 Built engine - Roughly how much

Hi,

Need a new engine for my JDM STI7 (MD321T, FMIC ETC ETC) and need a built 2.5 which can cope with 450 HP a little better than the old engine (R.I.peice) Does anyone have any idea roughly how much a built 2.5 will be? Has anyone used SW Motorsport for an engine build, Steve is local to me.

Cheers
N

It Can be done for a sh*t load cheaper than that.
The SC package is a cracking package for a drive in drive out solution however if you're comptetant with spanners and have the space, time and inclination then the DIY solution can be done for alot cheaper than that.

Perhaps the OP can advise of of his current spec which would give a better idea of what he needs to purchase to achieve his goals.

Gearbox u won't need u got a 6 speed already so that saves u 3k. Ecu and supporting mods turbo and engine if you shop you will find cheaper I had my 2.5 built forged by engine tuner and it didn't cost anywhere near 9k but then good idea as daz suggested u might be better of telling us your current spec

Basically, if you're not confident/competent/in a position to do it yourself, you're looking at about 7-8k to get it done on a drive in, drive out basis (as you already have the 6 speed gearbox, decent suspension and brakes). It's not the engine that's the expensive bit, it's the ancillaries - it all mounts up very quickly.

For those who need a better gearbox, yep, you're looking more along the lines of 10-12k.

if you have the rest of what you need and just need a forged 2.5 shortblock and it can be done at any good engine builder for a lot less than you think
block with premium crank rods and pistons is not killer,

i would say 99% of subaru owners are not in a position to take on this sort of project on their own, so a drive in drive out package is usually the best option.

the guy just asked for a price on a 2.5 that can handle that power to be honest the engie build should only cost about 5000.00 and engine tuner alan will do and 2.1 stroker in a cdb which will take that for less then that, roger clakre sell a 2.5 block of the shelf with a forged crank for about that money

The whole engine itself parts and build 4-5k ish
However as metioned turbos, induction, exhaust mainfolds, injectors ect etc can add up to a fair few K
So what have you got currently that could be used on a 450hp car?
And what would you need to buy?

Will you fit it yourself?

Then you have the end figure
