Default Battery??

Hey all,

I am having a few problems with my scooby, Sometimes it just wont start. This is a intermittan problem, it just seems tempramental. Its almost like the immobaliser is not turning off.

Some times, if i have time, i will leave it 15mins of so go back to it and it starts.

However it did it at work the other day so i jumped it off and it started striaght away.

I went to the shop and they quoted me about £100 for a top quality battery, I have been looking about and it would appear the Odessey batterys are the same price.

Would people recommend the Odessey ones, or any other brands??

A drop tester is a thing that goes on both of your termanials and it tells you if your battery is good .Any garage should have a drop tester and will do if for free i would of thought. Is it when it is hot it wont start or just a random thing.

Do you mean the car is hot? or weather?

No it seems to be if the car has been sat for a while, and in bad weather.

I did notice water coming through one of the bonnet vents and dropping on to my battery. I was thinking it could be this.

I have had my battery checked but it was when it was running fine, they garage said it seems slightly low but should be ok!

i am thinking that could be as i had been driving all day so the battery would have been as charged as it would every be.

The problem seems to be like a lottery, i would say 9 times out of 10 the car fires up. But there is the 1 in 10 it wont.

The reason i thought it would be the battery because when i had the problem at work i jumped it off from another car and it started right away!

If you battery is a non sealed type check the cells and top the up if they require some warter. If it started straight away when you jump started it sounds like the battery is on its way out sorry i red your top post wrong and for some reason thought you had bump started it.Does it try to wind over slow if not it could be a sticky starter.

Thanks for the advice. Its a sealed battery, I think I will try a new battery and see how I get on!

When it won't start it don't make any sound at all

It could be your starter sticking if there is no sound or a bad earth loose terminal. It could be just chance that by the time you got your jump leads on it would of started any way.If your looking for a good battery i would recomend a bosh silver. You can get them from andrew pages which are all over the country i think they have a three year garentee as well.
