Default Tyre size Advice?????

I have got new 17" Team Dynamics which are going on my New V3 Type R this week! The car is lowered & Solid stiff on adjustable Tein Sport Suspension!

What I need to know is what tyres should I put on them????

205/45/17s
215/40/17s
215/45/17s
225/40/17s
225/45/17s

Which would you recommend (& I dont mean looks) ??????

Thanx!

The 215/45/17's get my vote. The slightly taller side walls than the 40 profile would take the harsh-ness out of the ride for everyday road driving, but if your using it on a track the the 215/40/17's, due to the lower profile for better handling

205/45 R17 is the closest rolling circumference (@ 1937mm) to the OEM's 205/50 R16 (1922mm) that your car originally came with.

But I'd fit the wider treaded 215/40 R17 (the next closest RC @ 1898mm)...

Also with 225/40/17's they can rub the spring cup on the standard rear shocks. Not too sure about on your tein's

Check out this Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

It's rare for a 17" to be less than 7J. In which case 205 and 215 fit on fine with no arch rubbing issues. Not so sure about a 225 though....

I too am running 215/45 R17 on 7J wide alloys and am lowered by 1-1.5 inches. No issues with rubbing under compression

If your running 215/40/17's and stiff suspension there is a higher risk of bending rims on pot holes. In the worst cases the back of the rim can give way

Have you found somewhere to get tyres from??

Too true. Roadcar alloys can be relatively 'soft'. And can buckle alarmingly if crashing over potholes with ultra low profile rubber bands on!

Yep, Ive watched it happen.

A mate of mine in his lowered 2ltr Nova on 17's with rubber bands for tyres, hit a pot hole at about 60 ish, while making a sierra cosworth look stupid. About 30 miles later the back of the wheel gave out while doing 80mph on the motorway, this caused it a slam into the crash barrier. Luckily everyone walked away unhurt, apart from a big dent in his wallet. It could have been much worse.

After a lot of work its all good now but still running the same wheel and tyre set-up. He just keeps buying a new rim when one gets damaged.

He's obviously 'obsessed' with the way they look/perform on the Nova...

Well just to add that the only classics that came with 17" wheels as OE was the P1 and RB5 IIRC. Both came with 205/45/17, make of that what you will

Yeah, as I posted, 205/45 R 17 is the closest RC to the regular 205/50/ R16 on the MY97-00 cars.

Also, don't forget the 22B's 8.5J x 17"s with, I think, 235/40 ZR17s.
