Default Replaced knock sensor

I recently replaced my knock sensor on my W Reg classic uk turbo as it was displaying the cel. The cel no longer comes on which is good but I think with the cel being on it may have caused the ecu to limit boost to 0.5 bar, is this possible? If so do I need to reset my ecu with the old plugs under the dash trick? The only other thing I can think of that maybe causing the lack of boost is the crappy bailey dv10 again I presume this is a prime suspect. If anyone could shed some light on the subject I'd be very greatful! Cheers

IIRC the knock sensor error doesn't put the ECU into limp mode. However, even if it did, if your check engine light has now gone off, it should have reverted to normal operation.

ECU reset should be standard practice after any sensor change, so if you haven't already done so it's certainly worth a try. Do you actually know that the boost is being limited at the moment, or do you simply suspect it's down on power?

Ok cool, well the boost guage shows that it's only boosting at 0.5 bar rather than 0.8-0.9 and it feels really gutless after 4k rpm I've checked the boost solenoid and cleaned it out and I can hear it clicking when I've connected the plugs under the dash I've checked all the boost hoses and pipes but can't seem to find owt wrong. I could feel a slight bit of air blowing out of the bailey when it should be in the shut position, is this likeley to be my problem?

Is it as simple as just making a plate up to blank the hole off in the intercooler?

yes, and blank off the little vacume hose that came off the Baily too (i.e jam something in it!)

i had alot of code 22 problems shortlty after getting my impreza. it was either using bad fule or the MAF for me, but i remember i did loose quite alot of performance. might as well reset you ECU too just to clear any "relics"

Does sound as though your baileys is leeking under boost common problem also mate if you have the oem standard dv just stick that back on! Your car will run much smoother & possibly perform better

Do not do this. You have an MY99 or MY00 car by the sound of things. DV delete will start to damage your airflow sensor pretty quick - which will cause you far bigger problems than a loss of boost.

If you're going to try and eliminate the dumpvalve as the possible source of a boost leak, try and get hold of an OE one if you aren't already equipped.
