Default Key fob

Hi, ive recently got a 96 2000 turbo import. And it didnt have the key fob with it so I have to unlock the doors using the key which gets kinda annoying. Any ideas how id get a replacment key fob? I guess it needs to be programmed?

Cheers

Are you sure it's got a cat 1 alarm on it? If it hasn't, you'll need to fit one (and probably a motor in the driver's door) to do remote central locking.

when i brought my classic in 2005 it only had a very poorly fitted immobiliser, so as above it could not have anything fitted.

I dont disarm the car when I get into it, I use the key and it unlocks the door but when I turn the ignition on all the doors open. When I have to lock the car I have to keep the engine on, press my drivers side lock so it locks all the doors. Turn the ignition off, shut the door and lock the drivers door haha. Its abit sh*t really.... Just been looking at remote central locking kits and its says I can instal one as long as I have central locking...When I press my drivers side door to lock the car you can hear the motors when they lock. So will I only need a remote CL kit and not the motor?

I use a immobiliser key and put it into a hole and the light goes out.

Sorry for the long post

hahaha alrite dave! I know its a nitemare. Havent managed to order one yet, they have one on jap imports for £38 I think it was. Which seems a good price, also spoke to a guy that lives near me and he will respray my car in the next few weeks....Ive asked him if he can do like a few panels at a time so its not 1 big bill at once, hes asking for £120 for the bonnet and £90 a door. Which I think is quite reasonable, also spoke to my uncle whos a mechanic and hes going to help me repair the gasket and upgrade the PS pump. So il save abit of cash this way . I like to have a car that needs things sorting on it, gives me something to do

i would personaly get the car running sweet first before painting but what ever floats you boat

dont buy a cheap copy knock sensor i did the same 6 months ago. it brought the light straight on when it was started up and i spent my august bank holliday doing a 120 mile round trip to roger clark to get a genuine one

just my opinion

I havent got a clue! thinking about it, I think it only has a immobiliser . So il prolly try the remote central locking kit, it looks quite easy to install.
