Where is the thermostat on my 1995 impreza import?
Hello, I've got myself a leak and for the love of god I can NOT find out where it is coming from
Thought it was coming from under the intercooler but I'm not 100% sure now! So I just I thought would change the thermostat while I'm working on the car as I've had her 2 years and dont know when it was done.
So can someone please tell me when it is?
Plus after I have found the leak, what coolant should I use?
Plus does anyone know where I can get a diagram of the cooling system, pipes etc so I can follow it from the rad, heater tank etc
Thanks Claire

Looking at the engine, it's on the right hand side at the bottom of the block.
Follow the bottom radiator hose to find the housing, 2 x 10mm bolts hold the housing in place, IIRC.
Quick question, why do you think you've got a coolant leak? Are you losing coolant and it's puddling on the top of the block?

Put some card board under the engine after driving about for a bit then you can sort of pin point what part of the engine the water is leaking from, then let us know roughly where after checking the card board a few hours later and what part of the engine the water leaking from,
thermostat is located at the engine side of the bottom radiator hose, the hose will go from the rad to the thermostat housing.
hope this helps

Found the leak, the hose that goes from the carb to the engine. Its only about 5" long and you cant see it when just looking at the engine.
Need to find out where to get one from now, want to get a silcone one though as its ment to be last longer.
