Default Welding back box.

Hi, I have a ninja II back box, and on MOT says its cracked and blowing.

Can this be welded or will it just crack again.

If its stainless steel which a ninja ii is,then providing its not leaking on the flange(which can be tricky),and you use stainless sheets should be no problem at all.Only place i would imagine it might crack would be on the flange joining to the centre section ,or where the pipe goes into the backbox,or a split in the weld around the seams on the back box possibly, need more info

I will have to have a look as I havent seen it, just seen on advisory, they didnt even meantion it to me until I looked through it.

I am guessing it would be the pipe joining to the back box.

Will check and get back to you, Thanks for replys.

Any decent welder should be able to weld it regardless of where it is realy with it bein stainless, just try make sure its tig welded not mig as the tig will make a much better job. Where are you located?

I could do mate yes but problem being is im up in north wales and it would prob cost you more to send it me than it would to pop it to a local welder/fabricators and get them to weld it for you. Best bet it take it off, find a place that does tig welding and pop it in, 5 min job at max if its just a crack.

Didnt realise you were that far away ha, yeah be expensive just to weld up. ha.

Will it last the weld, or worth buying a new back box and be done with it.?

I wouldnt buy a new back box mate, if you could find a place to do it it shouldnt cost you much. We get alot of people bringing bits down with small cracks in mostly aliminium bits but we only charge £10 max to just sort it out. Stainless is tough mate so im supprised it has cracked in the first place but if you find a good welder then it should fix easy and last yes.

just did a quick search, maybe some of these may be close to you? One of them must be able to do it. Just call them and ask if they do stainless steel tig welding, tell them what you want, or if they close just pop down with it and see the worshop manager, one of the welders should be able to pop a weld on it.
