Default heater matrix flow&return pipes - classic

hi all
could some one please point me in the direction of the heater matrix inlet and oulet pipes on a 96 classic, just changed the rad an am suffering from over heating and cold air only out the blower, heard the best way of removing an air lock is to give said pipes a blast out?
any help greatly apreciated

They are 2 rubber pipes going from the non turbo side of the engine. They go to the bulkhead just above the gearbox. you may have to remove your top mount intercooler to get to them.

Thanks alot Mike, i dont spose you no the most effective way of clearing them? just undo the outlet may be to clear any air?

Well I've never heard that one about clearing an air lock. I suppose if you want to try it then take them off and put a hose pipe throught them?

I normally fill the header tank and pump the top and bottom hoses. Run the engine leaving the header cap off and the heaters on hot whilst keeping an eye on the level. When it wants to start boling over put the cap on quick then the fans should kick in.
When they stop I take the cap back off slowly and do it again.

Do a search on here for other methods.

Tried the method you mentioned but still have a problem,

"When they stop I take the cap back off slowly and do it again."do you wait for it to boil over again?

Yeah, I've never had a problem doing it this way. Just got to be quick with the cap.

Ok cheers, il drain it down and start over, using that method. How many times does the cap on/off method need, any thing i should look out for?
