Default FMIC - Help

Guys, I've bought a FMIC kit, for 183.
Now my question is, what filter should i use, does anyone have any recommendations

Also 'NEWB alert' How the Heck do you fit it.

I get the jist of where the pipes go ( hence I'm asking about the filter )

But how do you mount the FMIC I've got 2 metal 'brackets' and i do use the term loosely..

Any help would be great.

Cheers Si.

Ohh BTW this is what i have...

Now i know i'll need another BOV as mine bolts to the TMIC

Just read thru that thread, my RB5 originally had a FMIC so half the process i don't need to do. Question is do i still need to remove the wing to fit the turbo intake pipe into the hole that is left. ?

Not really, it is less fiddly if you do though.

One question you might want to ask yourself, not knowing what sort of tune your car has on it, is whether you even need an FMIC in the first place.

If your RB5 is still using the standard turbo, and especially if it's at the standard level of engine tune, you'll almost certainly be better off sticking with the standard top mount intercooler, or a better replacement TMIC, than you will be fitting any front mount.

Anything you may gain in fractionally lower inlet temps, you will more than lose in dulled throttle response due to the increased volume of the induction tract.

Chassis

Whiteline ARB's front and rear
Whiteline Drop links front and rear
Whiteline Anti lift kit
Fully polybushed front and rear
BC inverted coilovers with pillow ball top mounts, camber adjust front and rear
Comp brake 330 mm 4 pot front caliper kit
Braided brake lines all round
Front adjustable strut brace
P1wrc 18's - Now fitted with Team Dynamics 17'

Engine
As far as I'm aware its standard internals
Vf23 turbo
Tubular manifold/up pipe
Fully decatted with magnex full system - Now running FULL ScoobySport Stainless Steel system with De Cat
HDI front mount intercooler kit - New FMIC in hand, will be fitting it as soon as i can
Uprated fuel pump
Simtek ecu running 1.2 bar with antilag

Drivetrain

2005 WRX 5 speed box with hybrid driveshafts

Exterior

Standard other than prodrive spoiler

Interior

Standard trim
Autogauge 3 gauge pod in center of dash, water temp, oil temp and boost

This was the spec before i bought it, i doubt that the turbo was changed back to standard so i might have some luck the the FMIC change over.

That may be true however on the andy forest web site he recommends that on version 2 cars with the inefficient slanty style top mount, any power level over 300 he says that a front mount is best route to take.
Also once a front mont is fitted and a remap is conducted wouldn't the remap take the front mount into account and reduce such delayed throttle reponse?

You dont have a phase 1 car with the slanty intercooler though phase 1.5 and phase 2 cars have the standard rectangular intercooler and not the slanty one
