STI V2 i think - good price?
A friend of mine is selling his n-plate sti, i havent a clue what they're worth, it's 75km, just had the box done at ZEN, mot'd last week and having the cambelt done tom, 2K?
Been and looked at it tonight, but am unsure what a proper sti should have
It hasnt got a red-top engine that's concerning me,and is rather noisey when first started but soon quietens down, also it's had a bump on the front passenger side at some point as the bonnet dosent fit great and the headlight.
It's got the interior, water spray, strut brace etc etc.
Another thing that concernes me is he's used if for sprint racing in the past, hence he blew the box, so thinking, ragged?!?!
Cheers, any views would be good...

Cheap for a reason and you will not get any change from 1k if you need to replace the engine of 2k for a rebuild!! Early STi's never had red top, I think they started on either V2 or 3 (not sure which one) but the easy way to tell is look at the vin number.

yeah i just read that on wiki that it was this version they started painting the engines.
im not sure what to do, already have a same age wrx with no engine, just thought this would get me on the road quicker, and have a 'higher spec' well more desirable model than a normal wrx.

STi Version 2's didnt have a red manifold as standard - noisy when cold started could be piston slap from the forged dogbone pistons or from the hydraulic lifters in the heads.
Its worth what your willing to pay for one with "track" history and a bit of accident damage tbh.

The book i have refers to this being the first model to featue this but states that the ra models never got the red manifold for some reason.

only version 1 sti didnt have red top if i remember right. agree the cold start noise is nothing to worry about so long as its sweet when warm.
2k is not a bargin though for a v2 sti. least with that one you know the history all be it a track history!

Which Car is a WRX STi
The WRX STi was launched on the 20th January 1994.

Version 2's were a mix of having/not having a red inlet manifold, not all did (RA or STI) so take that into account, it was really the version 3's that had all red inlet manifolds

Ok, so ill stop worrying about that then!
Gud price or not then? thinking, it's an sti, with fresh box, engine goes well and the noise isnt anything to worry about.
What turbo's do these have by the way?
