Default Boot floor removal

not sure wether this would belong in exterior or interior so bunging it in here

obviously taking a grinder to the boot floor is easy, what sorta weight saving are you looking at? and what can be used to replace it? im guessing youd rivvet in a nice light piece of aluminium.

It cant make THAT much of a difference can it?!

There was a impreza on track with me last time i was out at croft, and it had the wheel well taken out, and some gash rear bumper with the middle chopped out (dunno if it was for aerodynamics or what?)

hhmmm i wouldnt do that like if i was to do any of that would only be spare wheel well i no ure trying to make it light but id pass on that and think of different bits to save weight on ie glass windows replace with they window kits bit steep though imho get rid of all interior including dash / heater matrix / door cards / carpet / abs / plenty to take out what have u taken out already??? any pics ??

I arnt stripping the interior as the car will still be used on the road. however the boot IS empty iv started to strip the sound deadening and was going to paint it up and have a real tidy swirl pot/fuel pump setup with all the boot painted nice but i just thought, be easier to take the floor our, cut another out of ally and rivet it on as opposed to stripping the deadening and it still looking crap and having a wheel well thats useless as im never gonna get a spare to fit over my brakes.

Beware of rivets and the MOT. Thought they were VERY much a no-no ?

IMHO

Done it on mine - not much of a weight saving tbh.

I certainly wouldnt have done it for that reason. Mine was done for a different reason altogether.

As a very rough guide, removing c.5kg is like the equivalent of adding 1bhp.

Ah, it's nice too be 'missed' (probably for the wrong reasons though lol).

<--- It's no doubt my avatar that you all miss!

Yeah, it's because of this non-driving based weather - lose a bit enthusiasm, therefore the same for SNet.

But now I've just bought a Acer netbook (my home PC drives me up the wall with it's sh*tness), so have found a bit of a spark again. Plus one does miss this site - it's a bit like a drug. Cold turkey! <festive pun there>

So that I could move the exhaust up about 6 inches and create a full width diffuser.

Weight gain is not worth losing the spare wheel well for IMO.

Buy a titanium exhaust and save yourself a load of weight and a lot of grief instead.
