Default Subaru 2002 wrx....engine management light??

Hi guys, I am after purchasing a 02 WRX, and the feller im buying it from said the engine management light come on when he put a straight threw exhast system on it, could this be true or should i stay away?

Any info would be great!

yes if its been decatted then you may get the engine managment light come on. also it should be remapped if it has been decatted

had one that did the same thing, but never remapped it (I didnt know you needed to) It's something to do with the emissions I think

if you remove the cats then you will more than likly get over boost which isnt good for the turbo or engine, remapping will ensure that your engine is running as it should be with the adjustments youve made, ie air/fuel ratio, boost etc... also it will enable you to get the most bhp/torqe out of your car with the changes youve made

yeah that makes perfect sense powerwrx. I am going to ask him how longs it been like that then, and if hes had it remapped

Yeah - the cat efficiency code would be thrown as there is no cat. Will come up with CEL code P0420.

On the 2002 wrx - it may not overboost that bad tbh but a remap would see better performance from it.

remaps can vary depending on who does it but a good (recommended) mapper will be around £550 - £650
