Cam Belt change - Where and how much
Just after some info please. My 01 UK300 is about due a cam belt change. Just wondered roughly how much people have paid and where is the best place around the beds and bucks area is to get it done.
Speaking to various subaru garages, the price varies more than £100 for the same job

the average price for just the belt change inclusive of belt is £150.00 that price will double if the idler pulleys and tensioner need changing as well, it gets even worse if the water pump is noisy when spun, that will be a extra £50.00 +fitting

Hi l paid £100 for a full kit inc pulleys and cambelt, £45 for the waterpump and fitted them myself not too difficult if your handy but l would allways change the waterpump on a cambelt change. When l was gettin qoutes for the work to be done at a garage they were averagein £350+.

igot the belt on its own from GRAHAM GOODE RACING for £36 plus postage its the one they use for all there performance built subaru engines so its a tough one! i think they sell them on ebay for that price too. i fit myself tho cos a mechanic but should be cheaper if you asked a garage and supplied belt yourself?

So is it best to just change the cambelt or go for the full works while the job is being done anyway?
Anyone know of any decent manuals anywhere that I can read up on changing it myself?
Any special tools needed for the job?
