The car was born as a WRX STI 1995 3rd piston big ends have gone. So i bought a WRX RA engine thats in very good condition. So what i was going to do was put the sti heads of the original engine on to the RA block.
Dad has an impreza and bought what he has been promised STI heads of a version 2 but on removing the rocker covers the cam followers on the ra engine are the same as the promised sti v2 heads my dad bought. Where as my original engine has these little nodding donkey things as in PIC 2 ^^
HELP lol

no, you will probably find you have a legacy block as well, when i brought my classic years ago it had a knackered engine when i took it out, it turned out to be a legacy engine complete with legacy vf11 turbo from memory with a bleed valve to push the boost up, the only way to tell for sure is by looking at the pistons to see if they are impreza or legacy ones.

Yes those are legacy heads.
Those heads are on there as standard because early legacies had closed deck blocks, and they tend to be retro fitted to impreza's because the blocks are more reliable, and the legacy engines tend to survive because they dont get driven as hard as impreza's.
Subaru engine parts are widely interchangable, so most heads will fit most blocks.

My dad sourced me a cheap engine of the internet. It was sold to us as a TYPE RA engine. On arrival i was curious to find what it was. It was a Fully closed deck which is a good start. I took a roker cover of just to have a look and it turns out that there is V3-4 heads on it. Hows that for a stroke of good luck??
Fitted engine and on first turn she fired up and run. Needs a set of plugs but apart from that its beautiful.
