But seriously...
Get it remapped properly with something like an ECUtek ECU. With the FMIC and TD05 16g, you'll see more of an increase (and a better overall drive) by having it custom mapped. As said in the other thread I'd be worried about unmapped mods causing your car to run lean.

Just buy a Polar Performance chip for your current ECU. Get the one mapped for the TD05 and you'll be away. The chip will be mapped for de-cat as well. I run one on mine not a problem. I also run a FMIC as the early TMIC is rubbish and to buy a good one costs almost as much as a FMIC, with the added advantage if you ever want to do track days or high speed runs you can. (There are reports of air not going through the scoop to the TMIC at high speeds on early cars). I added a dawes device to bring up the boost to a true 1.1 bar to take advantage of the chips raised levels - 303 bhp / 290 ft / lbs of torque, running slightly rich still on 380 cc injectors. Make sure you get it rolling roaded to check everthing is as it should be!
You could go down the ESL daughter-board route (£600) or Simtek (£1200), but with minor mods and a 16 year old car is it worth it? Its up to you in the end.
ps If it is the PP chip route, make sure it is genuine not a cheap copy.

The ESL (Enduring Solutions Limited) daughterboard is your best bet for a proper remap but it is about £600 which is a lot (worth it imo but still a lot on an early car).
With my 93 wrx i had a Z4,decat,manual boost controller and it made 270bhp,the boost controller was set up on a rolling road to make sure it was fine.
But with increasing the power/torque you will be putting more stress on the transmission
But i did sell it and bought a 98 STI Type R
