Default Intercooler advice needed asap!

Im looking for a FMIC for my Classic Version 1 Impreza. I have seen many kits advertised but for V4 onwards (96-00) which state they can be fitted with a little modification. Anyone know what I would need to modify and if it can be DIY'ed. Reason im asking is I would like to buy a HYBRID GT2 FMIC but they only offer it for 96-00 cars. The alternative is AUTOBAHN88 which has mixed response from people.

I believe the Hybrid GT2 will fit but you have to make a cut in the top pipe where it passes between the + battery terminal and the oil filler cap. I saw this in a thread by Harvey and he supplies the silicone joint piece and clamps for about £15.

Go for a Hybrid GT2, only a minor tweak to fit earlier models.

Either the Hybrid GT or the Hybrid GT2 will fit. Both may need slight alteration. You only need a hacksaw and possibly another joiner and two clamps which I have here. A jig saw makes it a doddle. Getting the pipe run correct is the key issue and we can talk you through that.
If you are in striking distance of Darlington we can do a same day fitting for you £185 and that includes any sundries. If you are fitting yourself we can give you all the advice and information you need and I will give you a phone number so if you have an issue just give us a ring.
Big stocks. Next day delivery.
This may assist you. Loads of photos.

Thanks for the reply guys. Think I will go for the GT2 then. Harvey do you supply the pipe/joint to make it fit properly? Also ive never fitted a fmic before so cant see why it would take 8 hours?

It takes that long as the fit is shocking on most kits

The fit on the GT2 is certainly not shocking as numerous customers will confirm. 172 Sport please do not group the Hybrid which is a quality item with some of the other stuff you may have experience of.
Yes I supply the silicon joiner and two additional clamps but chances are if you fit the pipework properly you won't need them. The additional joiner and clamps is a quick fix akin to cheating

Also ive never fitted a fmic before so cant see why it would take 8 hours?
Do you have a ramp and air tools? For a first time fitment when you are feeling your way I think it is fair to budget 8 hours. Someone doing it all the time with good facilities typically takes six hours to make a neat and tidy installation.
