Default Leak (with picture)

Hi got a oil leak which i thought was the sump but after having a good look i see it is coming from the area identified in the pic, Any body tell me where it could be coming from. Car is a wrx wagon 1994 auto

Right after looking at my coolant temp sensor as i have a cold start prob i found oil which looks like it has come from the engine and feeds a 3 way splitter next to the coolant sensor could this oil find its way down to the point of my leak ?? cleaned up so will have to keep a eye on it.

Thanks Neil

if its where the arrow points, it is the sump, the edge of it or the bolt itself

One of the rocker cover gaskets might have gone causing it to do that, i would also take the front timing covers off to investigate further as it could be oil pump/seal related.

if im looking at it right its the rear ov the sump it could poss be rocker gaskets and oil is finding its way down or the sump is leaking or worse case its the rear crank seal or inspection plates at rear ov the engine...have you check the top ov your engine i.e turbo return and breathers even to make sure it isnt dripping it down and just looks like the sump is leaking

Hi all thanks for your replys, i have had a good look i jacked the car up both sides so could get right under. There is no other oil i can see any where. It is leaking from the hole behind the sump (not the sump) where the disc thing spins ??? When it is running it drips down on to the sump but when i turned the engine off it dribbled out leaving a patch about the size of a cup. I have looked in the timing covers and there is nothing there. Also checked Rocker Gaskets nothing (not going to be that easy ) Any ideas
Thanks Neil

Rear main oil seal or the gudgeon covers would be the usual culprits. Both would require the gearbox to be removed.

It looks rather "red" down there which hints at auto fluid (the car is an auto)
Have you checked the auto box fluid level lately?

Think thats just the pic does not look that red. Have checked oil and auto box fluid. Sounds like this is going to be expensive to sort.

Where is that, is it near the coolant temp sensor bottom left of the intercooler as you look at it.
Thanks for your help

Eh? The coolant temperature sensor(s) are on the front of the water main pipe, just behind and beneath the alternator.

The turbo oil return is, surprisingly enough, underneath the turbo, next to the up-pipe.
