Exclamation HELP - Intermittent mis-firing when accelerating?

On occasion my Impreza (MY94) seems to, what feels like the engine is misfiring and makes the car judder. This occurs mainly when accelerating fast through the gears, but also occurs when driving at a more “normal” pace. It’s not always happening what could be the course of this?

id think the best place to start would be check the coil packs on each spark plug, remove them pull the rubber back at the end then check for cracks its quite a common problem,

also while youve got them off check your spark plugs condition and gap all the best steve

I got mine from Import Car Parts - Japanese car parts for Subaru, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Mitsubishi and more

I was having problems with a 2003 WRX, but they will have a coilpack for yours as well

I'm not quite sure as mine is a UK version and not an import. Up to now the car has been running sweet so I'm not sure where the coil pack is actually situated, is there on per cylinder or is the just 1 for all 4 to plug into?? please advise, thanks

You should have one for all four cylinders located on the inlet manifold. They sell coils for UK cars. Should be on this page but there are two so give them a call to confirm - they will ask you for your chassis number :

have just done mine yesterday reset gat to 0.6mm and removed all coilpacks .. cheep option is to remove boots from coilpack carefully . cut a small piece of heatshrink to fit each one . heatshrink on and replace boots when cool then heatshrink over the gap between boot and coilpack having done this replace and enjoy a new driving experience ... it has transformed my car .. oh and the ends of coilpack may crack and fall apart when doing this so be carefull

Would the judder be present when driving the car "Conservatively"?
On looking under the bonnet it looks like I've got the 1 coil pack per cylinder type on mine. Where's the cheapest place to get them new? Is there any thoughts about replacing with quality used parts??

there will be many cheap options for your coil packs but be aware buy cheap buy twice. as i said camskills do them iicr about 70 quid a corner, what you should do before splashing out is try a known working set if you can lay your hands on them ie a friends if possible as its a lot of money to splash out if this is not the cause of the problem, steve

ps get your self up to se bandit then you can try before you buy
