Default failed mot on emmissions

hi guys bit rushed here otherwise id search the forum but anyways dad just took his car for the mot. completely standard except an air filter an backbox. it failed on emissions an was wondering what can be done to make it pass. it is a 96 jap import an has both cats in place. any ideas guys as im bit puzzled on this becasue id thought it pass with both cats in place. cheers guys

clean lambda sensor and put some injector cleaner through your system (in petrol tank)

Put a multi-meter on the signal wire, black one iirc, should cycle from about 0.2v to 0.9v continually, if it don't then it's fudged

Make sure engine is warm up to operating temp as lamba only starts reading once warm if stone cold readings will not bounce between 0.2 and 1 v.

scooby cats (specially the older 1's) tend to need a good heating up ie before the test take it for a spin (spirited) and then get the tester to rev the the engine high before the test and it should pass mate

You got the wrong tester. Go to Scoobyclinic.
