Surely its the boost that will determin this and not the BHP?
I will be looking at running 500 ish at 1.9 bar in the near future and I plan to upgrade my head bolts as its a lot of money to spend to get to that level and not have uprated head studs. I have heard of engines running ARP 11mm studs lifting the heads at around 2 bar so I would like a little more safety built into my engine. Otherwise, best case is that you are around £100 out of pocket for new head gaskets and thats assuming you can do the work your self.
Instead of the hastle and cost of machining the block and heads I plan to run the Corworth high performance items which are oe 11mm so no machining required .
I'm open to views and opinions on this as always.........

that makes sense, not sure what boost ill be running, ill try the 11mm ones, as you say the worst that can happen is ill need a new set of head gaskets and a day to change them, so unless i get convinced by anyone else ill take the gamble.

Apologies, I meant 11mm uprated head studs are definitely a worthwhile purchase.
But (so I've been reliably informed), despite the hype, 14mm studs will not do anything more than 11mm can cope with.

no worries, i thought you ment the uprated studs and not the standard crappy bolt things, i never knew they did an 11mm stud till you said, and they do sound good as no machining is needed for them to fit, thanks very much chaps.
