Question

My boot lid rattles where the lock meets the metal bar. I have tried grease, adjusting the rubber sealing to tighten the pressure but to no avail. Is there any way to adjust the locking mechanism as the rubber blocks that normally allow adjustment on other cars are fixed so can't be moved. It is starting to get on my T1T5.

Don't suggest stereo volume or decats coz I've done that.

Thanks

Jerome

the technical instrument is called a hammer ( i aint joking) there are some adjusting bolts under the trim i think for the metal bar try these first if they dont go enough give it a couple of good hits that should then work

by the way thats not recommended by subaru

I had the same problem on my 5 door. I tried adjusting the metal loop as there are two bolts that attach it to the back of the car but I still got a rattle. In the end I elongated the holes in this bracket so it meant you could bolt it further down. ie the bracket is closer to the floor so it makes the bootlid shut tighter. This eventually cured my rattle. Hope this makes sense and helps.

Guess what -same thing on a UK 00MY...

Did you all force the latch further into the car, thus pulling the bootlid in further against the rubber?

James

Yes thats what I did but I didnt use the hammer. I used a file/drill to elongate the holes so the bracket could be bolted further down making the tailgate shut tighter to the rubber.
