help!! ran out of petrol- refueled now not starting
hi all
My car was in the garage for replacement of one of its fuel pipes and they took the tank out. Probably drained it to make it easier to move.
They brought the car back and it was runing fine. But they said it was low on fuel
The fuel gauge was at the bottom, as in didnt move at all when I started it up. Car was runing fine at that point
My nearest garage is about 2 miles from my house so i drove there an about 2 hundred yards from the garage it spluttered to a halt.
I put 5 litres of super into the petrol can and went back to my car an put the petrol in.
Started the car an heard a hissing noise from the front of the car and it coughed into life for about 2 secs then died..... tried a few more times with the same result. Hissing noise is gone an the fuel pump primes ok but the car will turn over start then die.........
Help

1st off see if fuel is getting past the fuel filter.
open bonnet, attached to the strut area battery side you`ll see the fuel filter, remove the outlet pipe and turn on ignition, make sure engine is cold (it will be as its not starting) and when the fuel pump primes the fuel should pour out that pipe,if it is,thats a good start.
try that and we can go from there
