Default This can't be right! random wire!

There is a wire that has been soldered/bodged onto one wire of my coilpack lead.

Left hand side of the engine bay and then dissapears into a gromit in the bulkhead, i've not traced this wire inside the car yet (was a bit wet when i noticed this).

Does anyone know what this could be for?

I can't think why someone would take a feed from here?

maybe there was a problem with the ground or feed on this pack before and someone put a new wire in to diagnose/solve the issue/rule out a bad feed/earth.

I have one on my car also. Goes to the alarm/immobiliser. Does your car have remote start or maybe even going to turbo timer maybe??

I don't have a turbo timer, but i have a clifford with remote start fitted.

Sounds like you have cleared this up for me then mate.

But surely there is a better way of doing it? Seems like a bodge doing it like this to me?

No its not a bodge it has to be connected to the coil it detect's from the pulse's so if someone did try and drive it away and as soon as they reved it it would switch the car off. Its just a sensor that tells the alarm the car isnt idling anymore. Glad to help you. Good Luck.
