spray with plenty wd40 and get a really good punch and give it some, possibly get a bit of heat on to it let it cool down then try again

Must be doing something wrong somewhere, they shouldn't take that much effort. Make sure the drift you're using to punch them out is the right size. Too big and all you're doing is hammering against the joint rather than the pin. Too small and the end of the punch will climb inside the end of the pin and wedge it in place.
