Done it, but it's a pain in the ****. I moved all the pins around in connectors to make it work. You could only do it on an ECU that has some flexibility regarding ignition and idle output.

Because I am a tight git and don't want spend a fortune on a pfc + mapping.
Also I wouldn't mind having a go tweaking maps on a laptop, something which can't seem to be done on my model year.

Pavlo what specific ecu's did you swap over?

sell the PFC and buy a used one with correct fitment. I fitted a 4 plug Motec group N ecu to a 97 Uk car.

By the time you get it all working, you'll have spent an amount very similar to a PFC, and you'll end up with a configuration that will be pretty much unique to your own car, making it far more difficult to learn about mapping yourself.

I put a newage ECU in a classic a couple of years ago - but it was made considerably easier by being accompanied by the matching engine and instrument cluster. Still needed a lot of work.

You missunderstand. I don't have a PFC. I am talking about fitting a MY99-00 or MY92-96 standard ecu into an MY97-98.

99-00 would be a nightmare, the 92-96 factory ecu might be a goer, but you're on your own!
