Default Just a quickie...Sump Plug Size

Hi all
I bought an oil temp sensor (along with others) and when i went to fit the adaptor into the sump it was too small for the threads..would this mean its for an import?? My car is a uk turbo 2000 MY98. Also does anyone know where i can pick up another one the right size??
Thanks

Mat

There's no difference in the sump plug between UK cars and imports as they use the same sump pan.

Following on from Scoobwrx94's comment, are you sure you're inserting this in the right place? Most Subaru oil temp sensors replace the #3 oil gallery plug (on top of the engine). If you're sure what you've got is intended to replace the sump plug, it sounds like you've got the wrong one for your car.

its doesnt sound right to me, take some pic and let us see what you got, i only know 2 ways of fitting it its either with sandwich plate (between the oil filter) or by the oil pressure sensor (below the alternator).

Thanks for the replys ppl
I bought oil temp, oil pressure and boost gauges off of some one off here and the oil pressure cae with the adaptor to fill in the blank over cyclinder 3, which i done, and the oil temp came with what looked like a sump plug with the sensor inside with 2 wires connected to it ready to connect to the gauge. I was a little confused myself and annoyed as i had to have an oil change just to find out it didnt fit!
Will get some pics asap!

There is a wire which connects to the back of the gauge and then connects to the 2 connectors u can see. If anyone can shed some light on this would be much appriciated as the gauge is constantly flashing inside the car and is doing my head in now! lol Thanks

Pretty sure it's oil temperature that goes in place of the blank on the block? And the oil pressure goes in place of the OEM low pressure warning sensor on the front of the block under the alternator?

When I did mine, I bought an adapter that allowed you to retain both the oil pressure warning sensor and fit the pressure gauge.

It's under the intercooler towards the rear of the engine on the top of the block. It really needs an allen key attachment on a socket wrench as it's 'kin tight!

If you google, or search on here, I think you'll find guides to fitting gauges complete with pictures
