Question want 300bhp from my 2000 turbo wagon

hi i have a year 2000 turbo 2000 wagon with blitz nur spec full de cat exhaust baliy dump valve as far as i know it has 215bhp standard a bit more with the exhaust. i want about 300bhp what turbo is best. i drive this car 2 work every day so nothing 2 mad. what turbo is fitted 2 it standard? if i fit bigger turbo do i need remap or new ecu? or what turbo can i just bolt on and go? can anyone help me this is my first subaru. and help would be appreciated. thanks dave

Welcome. Your car has a Mitsubishi TD04L as standard, and you won't need a new ECU as the one you have is reprogrammable. You will need to remap if you change the turbo (and possibly make other modifications too).

If you want "about 300bhp", you could either remap to max out your existing turbo (which will take you to 270-280 or so) or, go for one of Andy Forrest's hybridised TD04s if you want to nose above 300. Plenty of options beyond that - have a good read around here and see what other people have done.

thanks splitpin. what about getting a sti ecu? could i just plug and play? or would it be better just remaping the original ecu?

No. If you're thinking that taking an ECU from a more powerful car and plugging it into yours will give you that extra power (or some of it), then it doesn't work like that.

In the first instance your car wouldn't even start (because of differences in the UK and JDM wiring layouts), and if you sorted that, you'd quickly realise how much an STi ECU doesn't match properly with what you've got under your bonnet.
