Default Rough starting from cold, runs sweet when up to temp?

I have a 1995 UK spec classic turbo model, pretty much standard. It started playing up when starting from cold, as in it starts but runs rough, possibly only on 3 cylinders initially. If you touch the throttle it dies. If you leave it a couple of minutes to warm up at idle it runs fine. At the same time as it started doing this, the coolant fan started kicking in when I turn on the ignition. I think it's a problem with the coolant temp sensor, it's currently in a local diagnostic centre, which has confirmed that the coolant sensor is faulty. The guy there has fitted a replacement, but the car still has the same problem.......any suggestions ?????

AFM or coolant temp sensor. I had the same problem last year.

It was the AFM for me.

Mass air flow meter (MAF), Air Flow Meter (AFM), must be the same. most likely cold sensor problem causing ecu to not know when she's cold and needs fuel adjustments.

Normally the MAF will show bad idle hot or cold, the coolant temp sensor will only do it when cold as it defaults to "hot running" when faulty (stalls etc), but to be 100% sure she will need to go on a diagnostics machine, that will find the fault in a minute or two (its cheaper than buying the wrong part )
