Default Airhorns

a relay is provided with them, the cheap kind, but having a quick look, the scoob wiring circuit already has a relay in it,so is the relay provided or is that for older cars that are wired dirct to the horn from the switch ?

i thought the relay provided was to allow the new horns to be louder as the relay is connected direct to the battery witha 10a fuse etc ?

cheers

It's a bit of both. On my '95 classic I just plugged it straight in to the +/- OEM connectors mate. Sounds damn loud to me.

cheers, thing is,it came to me with twin airhorns, each one has + and a - going to it,just like a normal horn,i dont think whoever did it did a relay or anything,so when they broke,i bought 2 more, looked pretty similair but it came with this relay and a good chinese diagram,so im thinking do i need it or not,i have found the oem relay under the steering wheel but thats it

Left it in the packet

If the connections are OEM they already run through the relay and earthed accordingly. On the new age its slightly different as you get a + one wire only per horn so you have to run and earth back from the horn to the chassis. The horns won't be drawing enough power (if they are OEM similar) to worry about using the supplied relay, but there is no doubt they will work better with the additional relay and connection to the battery.

Thats my thinking, these are not that loud,my missus`s car has a standard horn and its alot louder than these 2 air horns, yeah they are cheap ones but i would of thought them to be louder than a nissan oem one !
the only hard part is finding the actual wire that goes from the horn to the oem relay i guess,as that needs to also feed this other relay

cheers

The existing + horn wire goes to the relay mate.
