Question wot ecu wrx or sti

I'm a bit confused on ebay there is a few ecus for sale on a couple of the ads they say upgrade your ecu from your wrx to an sti has any done this and wot has been the out come any problems any info would be good

You cant just plug in a sti ecu into a wrx and expect it to work. for one the sti ecu controls the A.V.C.S. which the wrx engine does not have and also the injectors cc on the two engines will be different and mafs.

the only standard ecu you wanna be runnign in a classic is either a z4 or any ecu with a polar performance chip fitted.

Unforunately he has a 97 impreza (if it's the same one as is in his garage) BUT still agree you can't swap over a wrx ecu for a sti one on facelift imprezas.

Avcs was added in 2001 to newage sti.
Op has a 97

It sounds like wrx ecu is safest bet

thanks lads you have made my mind up i had bought an sti ecu because i got it cheap £51 IL take your advice and get the same one thats in my car 1s £130 if any one has got one cheaper let me no thanks it is the one thats in my garage

also wots the difference between 7.5 sti ecu and 6s ecu
