Default standard setup.....overboost? help

hi there,i got hold of a 95 wrx a few months back,it was needing totally built up engine wise,i have this done and have finally got her taxed and motd, after a road test it felt like it was over boosting badly so after a forum search i have plumbed the boost solenoid properly and cleaned it as per the threads on here.it will rev to the limiter in every gear if slowly revved up but as soon as its planted(hits about 15psi(ish) on my gauge),the fuel cut kicks in.it has the z4 ecu and has an induction, full stainless decat, front mount, adjustable fuel regulator, high flow fuel pump.i have renewed all vacume hoses and cable tied the ends so no leaks but still no better.any help much appreciated bryan

sounds like all those mods have upped theboost and theecu cant control it on its own so you need something i.e mappable ecu etc

quick replycan i fit a dawes device and control the boost through that to just under the fuel cut? would that do away with the boost control solenoid? the car was running spot on with previous owner with the same mods, got a rr print out of 311bhp.i know the motor as i got it from a mate. the bottom end started knocking so in went the new engine.

yes, as i did the same thing with my car when adding mods to it. the boost just went up in high gears and back down and so forth just woulnt stay at peak boost as it was above the target preasure so put a dawes on and blanked off boost valve untill i got a re map just dont go silly with boost we dont want det in there if its not already doing it who knows

Hi mate have you tryed lengthening the actuator arm a turn or so? Or otherwise get your self a Dawes device as said to bring it down abit, oh what does the bottom hose on the boost solenoid go to? Should have a restricter pill in it?

the bottom hose didnt have a restricter pill in it as i found out when fitting a different solenoid,i cable tied the bottom hose so just a small hole was left(trying to improvise as i dont have a pill haha) took it for a blast and it boosts to about 12-13 psi now in 4th so no overboost, but it has a miss when on full boost,it splutters and wont boost hard but not the same as overboost? any ideas guys? thanks bryan

this definitely the cause for your misfire without doubt.

it will just make sure you get some decent coil packs, to replace them with.
