Brembos on Classic WRX
Am I okay just getting a front setup? Or should I go for a front and rear setup?
Car is used as a daily driver but wanting to start using it for track days (every month or so) so need something thats not going to give on the track.
Was going to be looking at a 2nd hand set, not buying new as on a budget. Which newage Impreza's will I be able to take these off and are they a straight fit?
Cheers, Mark

400-600 for fronts, although there have been a few struggling to sell at 450 ish lately.
Fronts are bolt on, rears are a lot of work. You'll need brackets and bigger handbrake shoes, so add an extra 190 to the rears that go for around 150-250.
You can get them from a Newage STi from 01-05. 05 onwards do fit, but the disc have a different bolt pattern, so you will need new disc or have them re-drilled.

SUBARU 2 POT BRAKE BRACKETS FOR CLASSIC'S STI P1 on eBay (end time 23-Sep-09 21:09:54 BST)
I'd snap these up, as I think normally they cost nearer £90! (from memory).

Ensure your 18's have enough room behind the spokes or your brakes will be a waste of money.
If they dont fit then your best off buying something new instead, the alcon 4 pots are 1k new now from dealers, or there are ksport and AP kits available for a little over 900 quid as other options.

So if I was to go for Brembo fronts off a 01-05 STI and 2pot rears of newage WRX... What exactly am I looking for?
Front: Brembo calipers and some discs (as they are just bolt on)
Rear: 2pot calipers and some discs... plus this > SUBARU 2 POT BRAKE BRACKETS FOR CLASSIC'S STI P1 on eBay (end time 23-Sep-09 21:09:54 BST)
Is there anything else i'll need to go with this bracket kit??
Cheers

RE the rears... AFAIK, that bracket kit in that link is complete. As you say, you'd also need the 2-pot rear calipers... and a set of 290mm (I think that's the correct dia.?) rear discs with the 100mm x 5 PCD bolt hole pattern...

Just fit the front, you dont need the rears really. Mine is pretty much only a track car now.
Which front brakes where fitted originally to yours. If its the shonky sliding calipers its well worth changing your master cylinder too to match your bigger 4 pots.

I agree with 172. I'd save the cash by not doing the rears and add it towards the funds set aside for the fronts. That way you'll be able to afford a much better, less compromised front set-up AND get better, more secure braking to boot (the rears do relatively little, compared to the fronts).
This will surely give you a budget big enough to be able to afford one of the K-Sport, Alcon, AP Racing, or similar, kits!...
