Default Greddy Gauges ?

Do they require their own make of sensors ?

reason i ask,i have a greddy temp gauge, used for oil temp, the original probe broke, so i installed an aftermaket cheap one from ebay using loctite on the threads etc, it works, but registers on the gauge when stone cold at 70 then rises to 150+ on the gauge when hot, it doesnt read straight from 0 like it should when cold.

any ideas ?

its a like for like visual swap, both had 2 wires to the harness etc, it shows this new temp probe is working but why not from 0 on the gauge ?

greddy gauges react to a set voltage sent to it from a sensor.the gauges are set to read greddy sensors, and other sensors will throw out a slightly different voltage thus shows at the gauge.a sensor is made up of chemical compounds that control voltage at differing temperatures etc, each branded sensor has different compound mixtures, and each sensor will show varying readouts on a single gauge.at the end of the day greddy gauge is calibrated to read greddy sensors only, unfortunatly, that's what will only work accurately.

Thumbs down

unfortunately thats the way it goes, try fitting a ford sensor in a vauxhall for example, the sensor is pretty much always suited to the reciever,ie ecu etc, according to manufacturer. usually costing more.
