Default Advice on fitting a stainless downpipe!!!!!!!

Hi guys - my downpipe has finally arrived. I got a bellmouth type and it has the gaskets needed and the 2 sensor srewin points.
Is there anything I need to be aware of and is it essential to heat wrap the pipe??
Also are there likely to be any issues with the fact that I have chipped the ecu (polar perfomance type eprom chip)?

Your gona have to modify (cut) your turbo heat shield, wrapping is always good but not absolutely necessary.Remapping is always recomended after most mods to get the best out of them and usually a good idea to keep the engine safe but i think you may be ok if its just the downpipe..

As the new down pipe has a bell mouth the heat shield wont fit round properly so you will need to cut some away.I had to do this on a classic facelift i had and i now have a newage sti with ppp and its been modified also to fit round the downpipe.

Just be sure to soak all the nuts bolts in WD40 the day before and ensure you have the correct size spanners/sockets.
The main problem for me was the Lambda sensor was completely rusted in and when I removed it the thread was fooked on it.

I had a garage fit mine too, def. worth the money. I told them to leave the turbo heat shield off so I could mod it. I cut the bottom part off to fit round the bellmouth then cut the whole thing into 2 halves so it is really easy to undo/refit now. Ditch the lower bolts as they are too much hassle to access, and bend/cut the shield well away from anything that may cause a rattle. The 2 halves butt together on the cut line so no real radiant heat will escape. The stock downpipe had shielding bolted to it that couldnt be undone (bolts rusted & siezed). I haven't wrapped the new one and so far so good no engine fire anyway!
