i have an import '95 wrx automatic. how can i tell what turbo it has? i want to delete the bov if i can to get the old girl chattering.....

Nope, all prefacelift UK Wagons had TD05 iirc they all did. All WRX Wagons had TD04.

can you blank off the dump valve on a td04 turbo or not? how much of a job is it to shove in a td05?

The map on the ecu is different as well as the turbo, the wagons were seen as more of a family car in japan and had a slight reduction in power to suit, they are 218bhp (220ps) on super unleaded fuel.

Just replace the dv with a recirc type, no more noise so I take it you have a wagon if your asking about a TD05 turbo?
Its not just a plug n play thing, it will cost you a bit to change turbos and upgrade the ecu/map.

I have a TD05 on my Wagon, but just out of curiosity, what is needed other than a change of turbo and the right ECU?

I HAVE A WAGON WITH BLITZ DUMP VAVLE THERES NO PROBLEM ,, BLANKING WAS EASY ON THE AIR BOX ,,, I HAVE BEEN LOOKING INTO IT 4 AGES SQUEEZING 20 HP OUT OF THE ENGINE,, BUT IVE COME TO CONCLUSION THAT U MAY AS WELL MOD IT LIKE ANY OTHER EJ20 ENGINE AND PERHAPS IN FUTURE STICK AN STI LUMP IN THERE IF YOUR GOING TO CHANGE TURBOS AND THAT
