Default missfire

hi guys my mechanic says the green plug under steering wheel on my car should not be connected. if its not engine light stays on and when you go to give it some missfires badly. if its plugged together engine light flashes but car runs well. my car a 1993 wrx import any help would be great thanks

I believe if not checking for codes or doiing a reset, then both the green and black plugs should not be connected.

So your mech is correct.

He's right, they are for testing only but are sometimes connected by unscrupulous sellers to disguise a fault with the car.

Use the above info to read the fault code, check the relevent sensor and then come back for more advice.
